We're the new Swiss Family Robinson...

We're the new Swiss Family Robinson. As of 3 weeks ago, my parents have redone the floors in our hallways, living room and dining room, into a beautiful chocolate hard wood. Now the 4 boys and I have to climb and swing our way around our house, careful not to touch the finish and ruin the effect. There's a bridge of a board and books across the hallway... to go upstairs or into the bathroom, the limber family member must get a secure handhold on the doorjamb before swinging out into the air above the floor and into the desired destination.

"Don't touch the lava!" has become our favorite game again, just like it was 15 years ago...last weekend Kelley was here from San Diego to visit David, and practically had a heart attack when she almost stepped out into the dining room and 7 people screamed at her to stop.

I feel like we're living in a tree-house every time I make my way across the bridge into my bedroom, which of course was my greatest dream as a child, and now I moan at the inconvenience and wonder where my sense of adventure went. We've eaten dinner outside every night for the last two weeks, and now just because its there, its become a regular after-dinner activity to take turns with the airsoft rifle while someone volunteers as the running target.

On Sunday, thank God, we leave for family vacation to Ashland. I'm so excited to spend a week on the river with my 4 brothers...Paul, David, Kevin and Brian are completely hilarious when they're all together, and I'm sure our week will be full of just generally awesome moments.
